William Lye builds high growth ventures through a growth by legal strategy. He protects and leverages opportunity assets on a local and cross-border basis. William shares with you his insight and wisdom on how to know your position and triumph over adversity.

Background

William is a Barrister with unique knowledge across law, technology, marketing, education, entrepreneurship, corporate strategy and governance, cross cultural engagement, and directorships in the private, public and not for profit sectors.  He has expertise in projects requiring innovation and creativity management, and provides a culturally diverse perspective on international engagement and development.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; held extensive executive positions including at the Victorian Bar and Commercial Bar Association; is a Past President of the Chinese Professional and Business Association; a Sessional Lecturer in Law and Entrepreneurship, the Principal Representative in Australia for the World Chinese Economic Forum, an Australia Day Ambassador and on the Board of the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

William has an extensive network, particularly in South East Asia,  gained through living in Malaysia and liaising, building and conducting business relationships with people from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Philippines, India, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States.

About the series

The High Growth Speaker Series is dedicated to the strategic, tactical and psychological development of high growth entrepreneurs. Grounded in cutting edge entrepreneurship research and science, the series is designed and hosted by RMIT Lecturer and serial entrepreneur, Lauren Rielly.

  • RMIT’s Applied Entrepreneurship students receive a closed one hour lecture at 3.30pm each Tuesday. 
  • High growth speakers take the cinema stage at 4.30pm to share their story, wisdom and action steps. Each event in the Speaker Series has been made open to the public, for the first 50 people to RSVP. 
  • 5.30pm kicks off the entrepreneurship social event at Oxford Scholar Hotel.
