Jeremy Same has built one of Australia's highest growth companies by adopting a growth by acquisition strategy. In 2013 his company, Aussie Commerce Group, was named BRWs fastest growing company of the year. Jeremy shares with you his secrets to exponential growth that you can apply to your own venture immediately.
Whilst still at school, Jeremy launched his entrepreneurial career throwing parties for his school friends – and lots of people he didn’t know. While studying Commerce and Law, he and close friend Adam Schwab, launched their first venture together, an educational product called DigiCAT. It was cutting edge use of technology available at the time – compiling lots of Word documents onto a CD-Rom instead of selling them in printed form.
After deciding a life in law was not for him, he progressed to doing an Honours degree in Finance. Leaving ANZ in 2004 Jeremy and Schwab, launched the business that was to later become Living Corporate Apartments. The business expanded quickly and
gave him insight into the Melbourne property market. A few years later the property market rose, and the decision was made to liquidate the portfolio in order to fund a new online business.
Via several detours and abandoned business models, the online business that finally launched with some success was called Zoupon, which later became Deals.com.au. Starting with 3 employees in a 50 square metre CBD office that was shared with Living Corporate, It has
now grown to over 250 employees and has over 2.5 million active members across an ever expanding portfolio of more than a dozen ecommerce websites on track to turn over more than $200m.
Now called the Aussie Commerce Group, the business includes sites including The Home, Brands Exclusive, Cudo, and Luxury Escapes, among others and was named BRWs fastest growing company in 2013.
